Spring has sprung in Japan and we have loads of photos of little Kai (who is quickly getting bigger) enjoying his first spring.

As Simon and Garfunkel once said, "Everything looks better in Black & White."
Below is a Sepia print of Kai and his mother enjoying
the spring sunshine as it pours in through the garden window.
(This is a clickable photo. For some reason,
some of the other's aren't.
I'll write "Click" under the ones you can
click on the photo to enlarge)
Here Kai is getting ready for the day. If you had any doubts about the pure brute force of this guy, take a good look at those muscle builder biceps .

After Kai is dressed,
we take him out for walks around town.

We head down to Meiji Street where the cherry blossoms are out in full bloom.

This is the only non-Kai picture in the group. These Azaleas are so bright I had to post.

{Caution. You may want to wear sunglasses before you do}
Here we are back at home. Kai in his manly truck shirt.

And here in his cowboy shirt that we got from our good
friends in Shanghai.
(Thanks Mio & family for the cool shirt
that will remind him he's both American and Japanese)
Cowboy face?

Kai went through a phase where he kept
trying to eat his hand...
and almost succeeded

Kai has started to talk. Well, he thinks he is talking. You can tell by the look on his mother's face that he must be saying some pretty surprising things.

There are actually very few photos of all three of us.

This is Kai's first day at the beach. We took him to see the ocean which is called "Umi" in Japanese but has the same Chinese character as Kai (海)

Here he and is mama are checking out the waves.
From his expression, I'm not sure if Kai approves
of the ocean using his Kanji.

After a long day at the beach, we took Kai to our favorite Cafe' in Kamakura called "Umi Cafe'"
(Unfortunately it's written in Roman characters or it would be also called 海カフェ which could be read,
"Kai's cafe')

After a large ice latte and a long day at the beach. It's time for a nap.
